INTERNSHIP

An internship through the Spanish Institute offers students practical experience in a company or organization related to their field of interest. During the Eight-Week Academic and Internship Program, students will dedicate 20 hours a week, Tuesday through Friday, to their internship sites. For example, students might intern from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., four days a week. Our students have completed internships at partner organizations across various sectors, including healthcare, business, media, and more. The internship offers the opportunity to “try out” a career or passion while gaining relevant experience and professional connections. You will gain on-the-job training that integrates education, career development, and public service while also exercising or strengthening your Spanish language skills.

The Spanish Institute furnishes an academic framework for your off-campus internship through a course designed to help you make connections between theory and practice. The eight-week internship is structured to include a minimum of 20 hours of fieldwork per week and 5 hours of meetings per term with a Spanish Institute mentor. Credit for the internship course is awarded upon completion of the academic assignments related to the experience. In addition to academic credit, students will receive close mentorship, hands-on experience, and a certificate of completion upon completing their internship.
